Autumn Winter 2020 / 21 collection Polar Byzantine is a story in five chapters translated into wearable art. Imagined by Klaus Haapaniemi and narrated by Rosa Liksom the story folds into fantasy escape to a another planet, Ice Palace.
Collection was photographed by Johanna Laitanen in abandoned scloss Lieberose in Brandenburg, Germany.
"In the deepest reaches of the primeval forests of the farthest north, we, the only inhabitants, were ready to greet a spring scented with meadow flowers, but the mouse ears on the twigs of the white-flanked birches would no longer grow. The bright green beginnings of their little leaves faded, gradually turned a rusty brown, and dropped one by one onto the damp and frigid ground. The great waterways that had always grown gradually warmer and tinged with blue as summer approached still churned slushy and grey against the boulders on the shore. The little winged creatures, those bringers of spring, who came back to the far north from the hot lands every year had still not arrived."
